Microsoft 365 Education A3 and A5 subscriptions provide the right to access server software running on Licensed Servers or to Manage Operating System Environments. We have just implemented Microsoft Teams direct routing with a certified Ribbon SBC and local SIP trunk using Office 365 A3 for faculty and Microsoft Phone system licenses - everything is working good. Also, we have now tried testing the same setup with Office 365 A1 plus for faculty license.

Starting November 1, 2020, CSPs who have purchased Microsoft 365 A3/A5 or Windows 10 Enterprise A3/A5 subscriptions can help their Education customers upgrade from Windows 10 Home to Windows 10 Education, which is designed for both the classroom and remote learning.

From November 1, 2020, Windows 10 Home will be a qualifying operating system for Education customers licensed via the Microsoft Cloud Agreement (through CSP). This eligibility, which until now has only been available in Volume Licensing (VL) education programs, has been enabled via Microsoft 365 admin portal support.

How the upgrade process works

CSP Partners can help their customers upgrade by submitting a support request on their behalf. Microsoft Support will review the request to ensure that your customer qualifies; once the request is approved, they will provide the Windows 10 Pro Education key to the customer.

When the customer installs the key and the device is joined to the tenant domain via Azure Active Directory (AAD), the device will automatically be upgraded to Windows 10 Education (subscription).

Details

Growing and optimizing the Microsoft Cloud Solution Provider program is an important part of our journey to a new commerce experience for partners and customers. As such, we will continue to evolve the program to meet customers’ changing needs and provide the most efficient and profitable experience for you, our partners.

Today we are sharing a few upcoming changes to the requirements for direct bill partners in the Cloud Solution Provider program.

First, we are introducing a performance standard as part of the direct bill partner requirements. Partners who want to enroll as direct bill partners in the Cloud Solution Provider program must meet at least USD300K in Cloud Solution Provider program revenue during the 12 months prior to their required support contract renewal date.

This performance standard will go into effect in January 2021 for current direct bill partners, and you will need to meet the requirements by your partner support plan renewal date.

If you are not able to or prefer not to meet the updated direct bill partner requirements, you will need to re-enroll as an indirect reseller in the Cloud Solution Provider program.

This new revenue requirement will help partners in the Cloud Solution Provider program build a more profitable business through the right model, with a clearer performance standard, and focus on delivering greater value to customers with less infrastructure and operational overhead.

Second, back in August 2018, we updated the direct bill partner requirements with new criteria for partners to purchase a qualified partner support plan. We are re-emphasizing the importance of this required for all direct bill partners in the Cloud Solution Provider program.

Direct bill partner requirements

Review the updated direct bill partner requirements and recommendations to evaluate how you can build and expand a more profitable business with the right model in the Cloud Solution Provider program:

1.New revenue performance requirement

Existing partners who are currently enrolled in the Cloud Solution Provider program as direct bill partners will need to meet the new performance standard starting January 2021. You will have time until your next partner support plan renewal date to meet the requirements. You can review your trailing twelve-month revenue on Partner Center by following this guide.

New partners enrolling in the Cloud Solution Provider program will begin as indirect resellers effective October 2020. They must have at least USD300K in CSP revenue during the preceding 12 months. You can review your trailing 12-month revenue on Partner Center by following this guide.

2.Support contract requirement

Expand your support capabilities by purchasing one of two support contract options:

  • Microsoft Advanced Support for Partners (ASfP): One-on-one, prioritized cloud support
  • Microsoft Premier Support for Partners (PSfP): Access the complete catalog of proactive services, 24/7 elevated break/fix support, and technical account management across cloud, hybrid, and on-premises.

Compare the support contract options to purchase a qualified plan.

Direct bill partner recommendations

Demonstrate key capabilities

To help ensure that you are ready and knowledgeable about the infrastructure needed to support the direct bill program, we have some additional recommendations. Demonstrate that you provide at least one managed service, IP service, or customer solution application. Partners should be adding value on top of Microsoft Cloud services and not just doing straight reselling of our services. It is an important part of a partner's go-to-market strategy. Learn more about adding managed services. We recommend that you meet the minimum infrastructure capabilities, such as billing and provisioning.

Direct bill partners in the CSP program who do not meet the new requirements will need to re-enroll as indirect resellers in the program within the Microsoft Partner Network. Learn more about how you can make the transition from a direct bill partner to an indirect reseller.

Microsoft 365 Business Voice is a cloud-based phone system for small- and medium-sized businesses that is built into Office 365. Adding Business Voice to a customer's Office 365 subscription delivers an all-in-one communication and collaboration solution with calling, chat, and meetings in a single application, Microsoft Teams.

Customers in the United States should note that the price list preview Offer ID information for Microsoft 365 Business Voice (Nonprofit Staff Pricing) is incorrect. Partner Center will have updated communication in mid-October when the Promo Offer ID is available. The pricing is correct.

The new geo availability was launched in Commercial, Worldwide Public Sector, Non-profit, and Government Community Cloud via Enterprise Agreement (EA) or Enterprise Agreement Subscription (EAS), Enrollment for Education Solutions (EES), Web Direct, and CSP.

All Microsoft Calling Plans features are available for Microsoft's Domestic and International Calling Plans, including the 120, 240, and 1,200 minutes per user per month (p/u/m) Domestic plans, and the International Plan with 1,200 domestic minutes p/u/m and 600 international minutes p/u/m.

Support for Windows 7 ended on January 14, 2020. While many customers are well on their way to deploying Windows 10, Microsoft understands that everyone is at a different point in their upgrade process. With the effective period of Windows 7 Year 1 ESU ending on January 12, 2021, we know customers are starting to plan for next year.

For customers who expect to continue using Windows 7 devices in 2021, Windows 7 Year 2 ESU (end date January 12, 2022) is available to CSP partners now to help customers with their Windows 10 decision. Visit the Resource Gallery for more information.

We're excited to announce the October 1, 2020 availability of new SKUs and value to help customers harness the power of Project Cortex and Microsoft Search to enable their users to find and manage information more efficiently.

SharePoint Syntex (previously Intelligent Content Services)
SharePoint Syntex uses advanced AI to automate the capture, tagging, and management of content. It builds on SharePoint for high-volume content processing, extracting metadata for process automation, and fine-grained security and compliance. It makes knowledge curation and discovery experiences better by providing more intelligent content to your knowledge network.

SharePoint Syntex SKUs will be available on the October 1 price lists (the September 1 price list preview reflected Intelligent Content Services). Microsoft licensing terms may still refer to this SKU under its old name, Intelligent Content Services, until November 1, 2020.

Microsoft Graph connectors for Microsoft Search

With Microsoft Graph connectors, customers can index items in external repositories for inclusion in Microsoft Search results. Beginning October 1, 2020:

  • Microsoft 365 E5 and Office 365 E5 will include the ability to index up to 500 items using Microsoft Graph connectors for Microsoft Search (not included with A5).
  • Any user with a suite or standalone license that includes a SharePoint or OneDrive plan will be able to see search results from Microsoft Graph connectors for Microsoft Search.
  • A new Extra Graph Connector Capacity SKU will be available for indexing up to 1 million additional items.

Microsoft 365 A3 For Faculty

The FY20 CSP incentive program term ended September 30, 2020. The FY21 CSP incentive program term begins October 1, 2020, and runs through September 30, 2021. The FY21 incentive program guides, overview slides, and walking decks are now posted on the relevant CSP incentive program asset collections on the partner website. We encourage partners to download and review the FY21 program assets.

The updated FY21 program rates will be effective from October 1, 2020. Partners will notice corresponding changes to their monthly incentive payments beginning with the December 15, 2020, payment cycle.
